BIC in the Garden

Bwera Information Center works with the grassroots people to improve their livelihoods through sharing of timely information. Such was during the Christmas break at which farmers in Kabirizi called on BIC to come and sensitize the community on the maize virus that had invaded their maize gardens. It would take another month for the community to get response but because of the community committment within the BIC structure the Chairperson who is a renown farmer and agronomists went to the farmers in Kabirizi on hearing that they had suspected a strange disease on the maize.

At BIC we believe "INFORMATION IS EMPOWERMENT" that was the motivation of the team that went to Kabirizi. The farmers were sensitized on how to sort out the maize plants and uproot the infected ones. BIC has forever, remained a community driven information centre that responds to the vulnerable farmers needs were the the words over heard from the farmers. Another farmer asserted who can dare come to us during this Christmas season?
Stakeholders lets work together to improve agriculture productivity and ensure food security at all times in Kasese and Uganda as a whole.
